Brie Larson Is a Scaredy Cat

Brie Larson, congratulations
on this movie. This is a cool thing. I think it’s cool. Yes. It’s a very cool
thing to be a part of. Seems OK. Yes. Yes. And you’re here for
our Super Bowl show. Is that exciting? I know. I can’t wait to learn about it. So what is it? All right, well, it’s football. Now– OK. –where are you from? Here. Los Angeles? Yes. So you know the Rams, of course. (CONFUSEDLY) Of course. You’re not a football fan. I don’t know anything about it. Nothing about it? I know that there’s a ball. Yes. I actually played
in a football game, which is unfortunate
for the team I was on, which was also televised. It was a DirecTV football game. Eli Manning was my coach. I didn’t know that
that mattered. It seemed like it didn’t. We lost. Uh-huh. Mm-hmm. Like, I didn’t know
anything about football until the Saints got into– they went to the Super Bowl,
and I’m from New Orleans. So then I got into it. And since I got into it, I’m,
like, obsessed with football. Oh, so you’re saying
this is my year? Yeah. You can, because it’s the
Rams, get into it now. Why are we called the Rams? I’ve never seen a
ram in Los Angeles. Right. No. They don’t usually– That’s not the point. No. It’s not– OK. –like, you know– so
you’re not into football but you’re very athletic? I am, but this is,
like, a new thing. I was super not athletic. I was like, can you open
this water for me, person? And then like a year
ago, I just like– [HULK GROAN] I just got
really, like, beefy. When you got cast in the movie? That’s right. So I trained for
nine months, and then was able to do crazy things. I could deadlift 225
pounds by the end of it. Wow. Yeah! Yes. Yes. Yes. Now who did you train with here? Jason Walsh was my
trainer out here. That’s my trainer. I mean, I haven’t seen him in
months but that’s my trainer. I was going to say, I feel like
I’ve never seen you at the gym. Well, he’s my trainer but I
just haven’t been there lately. I feel like he’s my
trainer then now. He might be your trainer– Right. –more so than mine,
but, Jason, I’ll be back. I will. I knew that. That’s why I asked,
because he gets everybody in shape for movies. He’s like the guy. He is the guy. Yeah. Yeah. So the ongoing joke with
him, because Captain Marvel can move planets, so
I was like, I just want to be able
to push your car. If I could just push
your Jeep, then I’ll feel like I was ready. And so it happened. There was a day where I did it. So you pushed his Jeep– Yeah. –up the alley? Yeah. That is his Jeep. Yeah. It’s got a full tank of gas in
it too, just for the record. By the way– Because that’s– and a person! And there’s a person in it. I was going to say, to be able
to put on the brakes in case you decide– In case I got run over. All right, so let’s talk
about Captain Marvel. So you are– OK. What’s happening in this movie? What are you doing,
besides incredible things hanging from a train? So my hair’s on fire. That’s one aspect that
comes in much later. You might be wondering
why my hair’s on fire. That’s part of the origin story. The thing about Carol is she
was a– can I say bad ass on TV? You can say bad ass. OK. Yeah, she’s a bad ass on TV. I’m not because I
question whether or not I can say bad ass on TV. Right. Yeah. But she was an Air Force pilot,
and was breaking crazy records, and then this
insane thing happens to her which gives her powers. And this film is about her
learning about her past, figuring out who she
is, and owning herself, which is my favorite part. Yeah. Well, that’s a great
message, learning who you are and owning who you are. I mean, it’s kind
of the whole thing. Yeah. There’s an action figure here,
and you have a kitty cat. First of all, this is
not how you hold a cat. I don’t know why they decided
that that’s the best way. It’s like literally just
its back leg and the cat’s balancing itself. And then– oh, no. Oh, no! Oh, no. That’s– She lost her backpack. That’s it. Yeah. So that is a cat in a backpack. This is you? Ish? Uh-huh. Yeah. All right. The idea is that it’s me. I’m not sure– And do you have a cat? Was that even– [SCREAMING] That was the time
to punch someone. That was your moment. He ran away too fast. It was fast. I hate cats. Just because of that, maybe. That’s not true. I love Jellicle cats,
but that did not look like a Jellicle cat. All right, we have
to take a break. And– Yeah. I need to catch my breath, OK? Yes.
