Cooking For Big Cats – FAQ Friday

Cooking For Big Cats – FAQ Friday

Hey everyone Afton here with another FAQ Friday. We frequently get asked why we don’t cook the meat for the big cats. Big cats are carnivores and they’re designed for an all raw meat diet. Cooking the meat actually loses its nutritional value to them and consuming cook bones can be harmful. Bones are very important in their diet for their digestive and dental health. I mean have you ever heard of a tiger firing up the grill to throw on some steaks or reheating their kill in the microwave? I don’t think so! But I wonder what that would be like? [Music] Oh [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] Here ya go bud! [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] I think we’ll stick to an all raw meat diet like they would be getting in the wild! 1. Wow – like nearly everyone else here, I'm blown away again by what you all do at BCR! The enrichment is beyond amazing – the love you have for all of your feline charges is obvious. Another great video – much love to you all in Tampa!

  2. I just love how detailed all those enrichments are! You guys do an amazing (and huge) job.
Btw, I've recenlty read a scientific paper about olfactory stimuli for cats and discovered you participated in the research! Yay! It's great to meet friends in the places we don't expect them πŸ™‚

  3. Manny is so funny! And smart! Love how he figured out how to get his treat through the doors–all the way to his den!

  4. Happy Friday BCR!!
Those were amazing enrichment pieces in todays video!!!
My favorite has to be the pancakes with butter.
And of course, you taught me something new today about the cooked bones not being good for them.
    Cory

  5. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ Manny really made me laugh trying to take that toy with him everywhere! Such a puzzle for him!
Love your videos! Thank to you all at BCR! ❀️🐾❀️

  6. Hi Big Cat Rescue, I have a question. What is the difference between a jaguar and a leopard? I know they are two different species, but they look so similar to me. Is there any way you can tell the difference between them by their appearance? (By the way, I love watching the big cats play with enrichment, it makes my day! πŸ™‚ )

  7. Wild animals have better digestive systems that can kill any unwanted bacteria, which keeps the animals from getting sick when they eat the raw meat.

  8. STOP feeding them meat it is not good for them as well as the environment. Cats can get enough nutrients from vegan diet… Feed them spinach and lettuce and you will notice the improvement in their health!

  9. Waw, The Tiger is playing nicely with his toys, So lovely to watch….
Thank you : Big cat Rescu.

  10. πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ˜»πŸ˜»πŸ˜»πŸ˜»πŸ˜»πŸ˜»πŸ˜»πŸ˜»πŸ˜»πŸ˜»πŸ˜»πŸ˜»πŸ˜»πŸ˜»πŸ˜»

  11. Theyre all so beautiful. Their ears are just amazing, They look like delicate seashells and I want to give them a scritch!

  12. What a fun video! The props are great. Manny was so funny. He wanted to enjoy his treat in the privacy of his bedroom. Eating in bed? Then King Tut slept in his microwave. I always enjoy your videos. All the cats were so cute. Thank you very much. <3

  13. Purrsonally, I think if you put 100 boxes out on big cat territory across the world, in three hours you'd have 100 cats sleeping in them, and another 50 or so lined up to get in them after the first cat leaves.

  14. Oh how cute! Folks were actually asking why the meat wasn’t cooked?!?! Jeez, hope they take this education and keep cooked bones away from their cats and dogs. : > (

  15. Don't know how you knew, but my question was going to be if the big cats ever have a problem digesting the bones! How did you know? πŸ˜‚
I meant do they ever get stuck in the throat or digestive system?

(Another donation on its way. I can never offer much, but I think every bit helps!)
    Thank you~all of you
    Jenn πŸ’– in Canada 🍁

  16. Manny is so goofy! I love how he went through all that trouble to go hoard his enrichment in his den, just like all his other toys, that silly boy. And Tut was so cute sleeping in his microwave.

  17. You know, I'm kind of wondering what would happen if you gave the big cats even BIGGER paper bags. Would they hide in them like cats used to do with paper grocery bags?

  18. πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ…πŸ†πŸ―πŸ¦πŸ±πŸˆπŸ˜ΊπŸ˜ΈπŸ˜ΌπŸ˜½Well done BCR!! You guys ROCK! That was almost as much fun to watch, as the Big Cats had playing with it all!! Very entertaining and cute!!

  19. But how do they not get salmonella poisoning when you're using cuts of meat, as opposed to them having killed an animal in the wild
I think that's why most people ask

  20. Max and Mary Anne made an absolute mess of their eggs and bacon.
Manny has to be part kid, because he loves to take his toys to play in bed.

  21. While Andre does love it so much and Manny uses clever way to bring it through the gate, King Tut does know how to use the enrichment in the other way πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

  22. Do you guys use meat that has no additives or process chemicals on it? Just curious if you have to source your meat specially

  23. Well humans also ate raw till few thousand years ago, so we should also, but cooked is easier to digest, and any harm full diseases get killed, my cats prefer cooked over ram

  24. Can you guys film your whole area with a drone sometime, would be cool to see it from a birds perspective and also a good look at how big every enclosure is.

  25. I love watching these Big cat rescue videos, it is really cool to see that these cats are happy and taken care of after they've lived through possibly horrible, or completely horrible lives, what big cat rescue does for these cats is really amazing.

  26. Awww… to see Andre rolling around with the soft drink enrichment was so adorable. When the big cats act like domesticated ones, it's just so cute, and easy to forget that they are wild animals. I love when they do, though. ❀

  27. 1:03 How I feel about Wendy's frosty and fries.πŸ˜‚ MAJOR shout out to the people that made the "food" great detail!😁

  28. awesome job with their enrichment BCR!!! every cat is lucky to have those enrichments. It's really fun watching them have fun. Manny you silly cat. so cute!

  29. You do such a great job with their enrichment. So nice to see all the love that goes into caring for them. Your 'care taking' crew is amazing and deserve blessings and total respect.

  30. Those are really great. I would like to request that you let us know the cat's species more often, please. My 9 year old is trying to learn to recognize them from your videos.

  31. With the background giggles, it's hard to tell who had more fun with this cooking themed enrichment – the cats or Afton!

  32. I recently visited the rescue for the first time a week ago. I was able to see Manny and King Tut, among others. These guys are so well cared for. You all are doing amazing work. ❀️

  33. Every time I see the cats playing with their enrichment, I immediately want to run up to them and pet and cuddle with them every though I might get mauled! They’re just. So. Cute.

  34. I imagine BCR as a crotchety old folks home with slightly grumpy but nice oldies, but then there’s young kids that stay for a while and the grumpy habits grow on them

  35. Awesome movie! Sitting here at Y&S FOOD! we all love to come across this sort of content. We make Travel & Food shows too, all around the world, and we are frequently aiming for inspirations and perhaps approaches. Thank You.
