How To Cook Hot Dogs In An Air Fryer

On this video we’re going to show you how
to make some delicious air fryer hot dogs that not only look like they came off the
grill, they taste like they came off the grill. Also on this video, if you’re one of those
folks who likes to have a little bit of onion on your hot dog but hate to cut up a big onion
because it will go to waste, we’ll show you how to store that the leftover onion for
weeks. Hi folks, welcome to Kitchen Tips OnLine,
the YouTube channel where you will find new and innovative ways to do things in the kitchen. And if this is your first time here, well
I invite you to check out some of our other videos like this one. How to make a Big Mac using your air fryer. On the video we not only show you how to make
a perfect Big Mac using your air fryer, we show you the exact ingredients for making
Big Mac sauce at home. And for those folks who haven’t seen that
video, we’ll put a link to it at the end of this video. If you’re like me and you like a little onion
on your hot dog with ketchup and mustard, you always seem to wind up with a lot of leftover
onion that goes to waste. All you have to do is take the leftover onion,
put it in an empty jar and add ketchup or mustard. Then put it in your refrigerator and it will
last at least 6 weeks. And because the onions are in a jar, there
will be no onion smell in your refrigerator. Coming up, I’m going to show you a very simple
trick to make your hot dogs taste like they came right off the grill. But first, I’m going to show you how to make
these criss-cross cuts, so they look like they came right off the grill. It’s a very easy to make these criss-cross-cuts
that simulate grill marks by using a small knife and a couple of inexpensive wooden spoons. I say inexpensive wooden spoons, the kind
you get down at the dollar store, because the diameter of the handle is small enough
that you can cut just deep enough into the hot dog. If you get expensive wooden spoons, the handles
are likely to be too thick or too big around. Obviously you can make these cuts without
using wooden spoons, but my experience has been that you cut too deep and the hot dogs
fall apart. All you do is cut the hot dogs at a 45 degree
angle, flip them over, then cut the other way at a 45 degree angle. This allows the hot dogs to open up a little
bit while they’re cooking. And that allows the mustard, ketchup, relish
or whatever you’re using, to fall into the cracks and flavor the hot dogs. In addition to enhancing the appearance of
the hot dogs, the criss-cross-cuts serve another purpose. It’s an opportunity for us to flavor the inside
of the hot dog. We’re going to use liquid smoke. But for those folks who like hot stuff, now
you can add it. We’re going to put a little bit of water in
a dish and then we’re going to add 1/4 or 1/2 teaspoon of liquid smoke. We’ll let the hot dog sit in the water for
about 10 minutes or so. The smokey water will seep into the cracks
of the hot dogs and flavor the inside so that it tastes just like it’s spent some time on
a charcoal grill. While the hot dogs are soaking in the smoke
water, you can go ahead and turn on the air fryer so that it can preheat to 350 degrees. If you want to avoid having to clean your
air fryer, you can put some aluminum foil in the bottom and in the basket before you
put it on preheat. I use these pre-cut foil sheets that are used
in the restaurant industry. I get them at Sam’s Club and they are about
one penny per sheet. When the hot dogs are fully cooked, we are
going to put them back in the air fryer in the bun, along with some cheese. And that’s where this aluminum foil really
comes in handy. Because it completely eliminates the hassle
of cleaning up burnt cheese. It’ll take about five minutes to cook the
hot dogs when they’re in the airfryer by themselves, but after you put the bun in with the cheese,
make sure that you don’t walk away. Because It’s going to take less than 60 seconds
to make them toasty on the outside and cheesy! If you don’t yet own an air fryer but are
considering getting one, you definitely want to check out our video on how to buy an air
fryer. This will help you not make that $100 mistake
that some folks make. There you go folks, now if you want to see
