Subscribe and click the bell icon and tick all to get notified each time we upload a new video We will discuss two topics in this video How to select a quality guppy pair and how to setup a tank for guppy breeding properly If the pair we are buying is a quality one we will not get best quality fries from them if the tank is also not set properly the fish will die very quickly the first thing we are going to discuss is how to select a quality guppy pair We have to look for the tail quality first Avoid guppies without perfecty smooth tail edges the broken tail is an Indication of improper guppy caring never buy fish from that kind of breeders of farm In this video you see our Galaxy Blue tail guppies Look at their tail shape the edges are perfectly smooth there is no breakage or split tail never buy fish with broken or split tails and never buy fish from that farm itself Buy fish from only reputed farms The second thing we have to look for is how active the fish are In this video we can see that the fish are very active they have no signs of any tiredness or any difficulty in swimming look at the portion where their tail begins and body ends Select guppies which have this portion thick This is an indication of their health never buy fish that are very thin at this portion we mentioned guppies that have a very poor blood line will have this portion very thin Another thing that we have to look for is to buy guppies from farms that rear male and female guppies separated A quality guppy breeder will never raise male and female guppies together this will prevent inbreeding and the related health problems due to inbreeding Never buy the cheapest guppy Always look for quality if the parent stock or brood stock is low quality we ill never get quality fires (babies) from that pair Now we have to properly set the tank for breeding A 2 feet by 1 feet by 1 feet tank is ideal to start breeding the optimum water height is below 20 and maximum of 25 centimetres Never increase the water height more than that the aeration system that we are using is a centralized air circulation system If you are a beginner you can go for a small air pump with two outlets Now we are going to connect a sponge filter to the tank the sponge filter will filter the water and it acts as a bed to grow the beneficial bacterias the bacteria will help to decompose the ammonia produces by the fish Sponge filters or DIY bio filters can be used There is another advantage for using this system The water will have a flow and the guppies that grow on this water current will get more exercise and they will get more healthy The water is cloudy now Leave it for at least 3 days ( 5 days is good) Then it will get clear and bacteria will start to grow in it then we can introduce guppies. there are lot more topics coming in this series Subscribe to Guppy Wagon for quality videos related to guppy farming on every Tuesday and Friday at 7 PM IST
