Lovey Doggy Dog Cafe: a short documentary film

Lovey Doggy Cafe The first ever dog cafe in Cebu City. When the cafe opened, people went buzzing in and out. Giving a lot of good feedbacks about the cafe. A lot of families and dog lovers visit the cafe and leave good reviews about the place, the food and how it’s priced, the employees and of course, the dogs. The cafe is a well-decorated and a cutesy themed two story store. There’s a counter where customers can order food and beverages, the kitchen, and the playpen. Where people can play and pet the resident dogs; all located in the first floor of the cafe. The second floor is the lounge wherein customers can relax and eat in the cafe. The cafe allows their customers to bring their own dogs inside the cafe so that they can also join in the happy vibe that this cafe gives off to their customers. They also have a mini supplies store for customers who are dog owners or going to be dog owners. They sell all the daily supplies a dog could need, from food to hygiene, and from accessories, to clothing. Making this kind of business is not easy especially when they have to take care of the resident dogs. But the owner of this lovely cafe was able to think of a simple way to maintain the dogs and keep the cafe up and running. My name is Monica Krista Ingan. I’m 21 years old and I’m the owner of Lovey Dogey Dog cafe. Why did you make dog cafe? So since I’m a dog owner, I noticed that there are lots of establishments that aren’t friendly for dogs. So, I decided to make a business that would be dog friendly. Especially since it’s required in my school to open up a business before I graduate. So, that’s how this all came up. How did you manage to get the dogs? Some of them I already owned and some I bought from around Manila, Bohol and yeah. I got them from all different places. What do you do to take care of them? My employees, some of them do the washing, feeding, if they get sick we have a vet. We take them there once a week and our vet is from Caminades. Do you know their daily routine? To sleep, eat, play. Do you know like their schedule when they take a bath? They only take a bath twice a week, so yeah. Twice a week. Four, around four dogs get washed at the same time and yeah. Where do they sleep? They just sleep here in the playpen and we have a fence that prevent them from going out. Do they take vitamins everyday? Not everyday but regularly like around thrice a week or if they’re healthy then we don’t really give them vitamins but if they’re really sick or stressed we give them vitamins. Do you know their nap schedule like their sleeping time during the day because I’m sure that not all dogs are here? We have sleeping, eating schedule for two hours we select four dogs to come up here and then take a rest and then that’s the time we also feed them. That’s really nearest like two hours. Two hours, four dogs. Do you know what time they’re most energetic with? In the morning until the afternoon. Around 6pm that’s like the time they get drowsy and yeah. So, when the store closes do they have a routine or morning or night routine? They just. They just stay in the playpen. Do you foresee Lovey Doggy as a longtime business? Yes. If so, do tell. ‘Cause like I said there’s a lack of dog establishments and dog friendly establishments here in Cebu. And then I’m hoping that Lovey Doggy could like extend its services such as In the future, hoteling, day care, probably even as a resort or spa for dogs and yeah. It’s my future. Lovely doggy is still new in the business life but its services never fails to please its customers. Monica seeks to improve and innovate the cafe for her customers and their K9 friends to have more benefits and more features that they will and can enjoy in the future.
