Western Bulldogs Kennel Cult Heroes – Ros Richards – Presented by WorkSafe

[INTRO MUSIC] Voiceover: Recruited from Wales, 2014. Introducing this week’s Worksafe Kennel Cult hero. My name is Ros Richards. I’m from Wales. I‘m a Welsh girl from the Valleys and I’m a myotherapist. I’ve got a background in track and field. I represented Wales in the 800 metres. I’ve always worked within Rugby Union so it was a bit of a shock coming here because I didn’t even know what AFL was. And if I’m completely honest, the first thing I can remember was, “Damn those shorts were short.” I remember when I first started working…Gosh they’re a bit tight and short aren’t they? My gosh. It reminded me at the time of school boys chasing after a ball. You kick a football to school children and they all kind of run to the ball. I didn’t quite understand the game and it took me a good couple of years to really understand what was going on. But it was exciting, really exciting for me just to be part of a different professional sport and to have a different kind of challenge. I’ve been working here now..this is my second season in the club and you really get to know how the boys bodies work and how they pull up. Especially after training or, and after a game. I could actually look at a player and I’ll know exactly what’s up. I’ll know where his tight spots will be. I’ve actually banned mobile phones in the myo room, because I feel it’s important to have that interaction. It’s quite a lot of pressure what they do, and I feel it’s quite cool to have a different topic every week on the white board. We like our riddles. We like, “Would you rather?” We like certain topics. It’s quite interesting and quite funny, some of the stuff that comes out. I’m definitely all about good vibes. I’ve got to promote good vibes in here in my ‘Myo room’ and around the club. I’m all about that. I feel it’s great then for those that are in recovery to have people they can bounce off. I think that’s vital. [MUSIC]
